Hey! Merry XMAS, bros! :D Admittedly, I wore this outfit several days prior to this, but whatever. Haha. ^_^ I thought today would be a good occasion to share since this is colorful and quirky and whatnot.

Picture

So, once again, I'm not feeling super duper confident about what I've done here. Magenta, red, yellow and blue seemed like a good idea in my head, but when I finally put the colors together, I was like... o_O O_o Haha. Holy hell, that is bright! Then I went whole hog and added houndstooth pants just to be really annoying. :D I'm sure this outfit bothered a lot of people. The only thing that bothers me, though, is whether the colors really work together. I won't hash it out
ad nauseam like I did in my previous post, though. I'll spare you! Haha. I'll just give it some thought and make some notes, later. ^_^

So, these houndstooth pants are really fantastic and I'm super stoked to have them. I got them in a clothing swap and when I received them, they were much too big in the waist. I was pretty devastated, but I saved my pennies and took the pants to a seamstress who I absolutely trust. I asked her if she could make the pants more fitted and high waisted and she did a really amazing job!  ^_^

I'm looking forward to wearing these pants in even more annoying ways. Muahahaha. :D The rest of the outfit is remixed. I hadn't worn the braided blue elbow patch sweater in forever, so this outfit offered a wonderful excuse. It was one of my first ever purchases from Oasap. Click here to see how I last wore it. The bright pink coat is something that I wasn't sure about when I first got it, but then it slowly grew on me. It has become one of my favorite coats. Click here to see how I wore it in February of this year.

The red pom pom hat is from my sponsor, Oasap. It's pretty decent considering that it's only $5.90. I really, really wanted a red winter hat and now I finally have my first one. ^_^ I think I will try to get it in other colors. I probably wear my cat hats a bit too often. Hehe. It's nice to have a little variety. Though, I think these hats make my head look like a melon. Or...maybe it's the other way around? Haha. I *do* have a big head. >_<
Oh well. So, I haven't opened any gifts, yet. For some reason, I find all kinds of excuses to delay that bit. Haha. I'm weird. Anyway, I hope this post has you in good spirits! I'm looking forward to eating way more than a single person ever should and playing drinking games. :D

Every year, my partner and I have this tradition of watching random episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. We're dorks, you see. Haha. It's one of our favorite shows, though. We must have watched the whole thing like four times through, already. Anyway, we devised a pretty awesome drinking game
that we like to play while we watch. *shrug* That is what XMAS means to me: eating lots, drinking tasty bevs, snuggling and being totally lame with someone who loves you. So, here's to being lame! <3

I'm taking a break from being colorful, but don't worry. My next couple of outfits will be bright, bright, bright. :D It's so close to XMAS and I'm going through some weird family stuff. I don't really want to get into it. I try to keep my blog relatively drama free. Let's just say, I was craving an outfit that matched my mood. Basically dark, but with a noticeable silver lining (which took the form of cute deer leggings). ;D

Picture

I'm usually pretty good about not letting things get to me. I'm a lot tougher than most people, including my own parents, realize. My parents considered me the "weak one," because I wear my heart on my sleeve. I always spoke my mind and I never had a problem articulating how I felt about things and why I felt a certain way. For some reason, being able to show your emotions and talk about them was considered a weakness in my family. I've always thought the opposite. At any rate, as much as I love my family, their hardness of character; their old fashioned ideas about the role of women and children in the home; and their quickness to completely cut you off and ignore you the moment you rub them the wrong way has me exhausted. Needless to say, the holidays have become a thing to get over, as opposed to a thing to enjoy, this year. All I can do is what I've been doing: hold myself together.

Picture

My wonderful partner and fantastic friends keep me sane and remind me of what the holidays should be about. So, I'm so thankful for having people like them in my life. ^_^
OK. Fashion stuff. Yeah. I'm not really wearing anything new and I'm ecstatic about that, because it means I found a way to use what I already have in a creative way. :D You last saw the grey fringed cardigan in this post
and the blue handbag in this post. I've had the deer leggings for awhile, but this is just my second time wearing them out. I wear them around the house quite a bit. They're super comfy. I'm just picky about how I style them, I guess. The orange pom pom hat is something I picked up last year during a 70% off sale. I've had it in a bin full of winter hats and scarves since I bought it. I'm glad I finally got a chance to wear it!

Picture

I really liked how the reflective sunglasses melded with the orange hat and colorful scarf. The colors are really striking and I think it added to the drama of the outfit. I wanted a dark, bohemian feel, but at the same time, I didn't want to be frightening. Haha. It can be a fine line with me, I guess. Still, I think I succeeded in creating the look and feeling that I was going for. The fringe cardigan certainly helped!

Picture

So, that's it! I hope this outfit wasn't too scary for you. :P I just really wanted to use how I was feeling as an opportunity to be creative. Sometimes, when I'm going through stuff, I write and it makes me feel better. Getting dressed is a creative process for me, so I found that it ends up having the same soothing effect. It gives me closure. For some people, the holidays bring up rather bad memories. It's a sad dichotomy and one that I wish didn't exist. We all go through so-called "rough patches." If that happens to be your situation, then I can say, "This too, shall pass." Tomorrow is a new day and a new beginning. It's OK to smile. :D Have a wonderful XMAS Eve! I'll be back with a colorful outfit on XMAS. <3
