You guys know I don't spam you with sales and promotions. I don't like clutter. However, this info is worth sharing, so listen up! ModCloth is doing a massive giveaway that started yesterday and runs through November 11. If you place an order during this time period you will be automatically entered for a chance to win one of
fifty $50 gift certificates, one of two $500 gift certificates, or the grand prize: a $1,000 gift certificate + a VIP styling session! That's a lot of gift certificates and as you can imagine, tons of people will be placing orders. So, all I can say is: "May the odds be ever in your favor." Haha. If you were going to buy something anyway, then the resulting giveaway entry is just a cherry on top. :D

There's more! Starting today through November 12, ModCloth is having a sitewide 25% off shoe sale! The gift certificate giveaway ends on November 11, so now seems like the perfect time to make a purchase. I snagged two pairs of shoes, already. Don't worry! I'm still on a spending freeze. I used a gift certificate. Now, I'm wishing I had a bigger gift certificate, though. Haha. It was really hard to choose, but I decided on trying these black wedges and these brown low heeled shoes with tassels.

Picture
Black T-Strap Wedges - $25.99 (Originally $34.99)

Picture
Brown Low Heeled Tassel Loafers - $25.99 (Originally $34.99)

If I can stuff my size 10 feet into these shoes, I would be overjoyed. Even my black kitten heels hurt my feet, but wedges seem to provide enough support to be comfortable. The black wedges look like T-strap heels from the front, so I'm hoping they will become my staple black "heels." I don't have any really nice looking brown loafers or oxfords. I'm not sure how I'm going to like those tassels in person, but we'll see! Haha. If I don't feel too goofy in them, they can stay. ^_^ I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Here are some other shoes on my wishlist that I've been salivating over for what seems like forever:

Picture
Perforated Knee High Lace Up Boots - $59.99 (originally $79.99)

Picture
Navy/Brown Suede Flats - $29.99 (originally $39.99)

Picture
Classic Light Brown Oxfords - $40.99 (originally $54.99)

Note: I bought these in a size 10 a few weeks ago and they were too tight. By the time I had returned my order, the size 11 had sold out. I was/am crushed. T_T I really love these shoes. They would go with so many things in my wardrobe. I wish the size 11 was still in stock. Here's to hoping it comes back!

Picture
Patent Black Oxfords - $33.99 (originally $44.99)

Picture
Dark Brown Oxfords - $33.99 (originally $44.99)

Note: I had a similar experience with these shoes. The size 10 was just too tight and the sizing doesn't go any higher than that. Story of my life. They're really cute in person! Between this shoe and the other one above, I would have been set. Instead, the search for perfect brown oxfords continues.

Picture
Blue & White Floral Flats - $33.99 (originally $44.99)

I wear a lot of black and brown shoes. Yeah, I'm boring. Whatever. Haha. I really like these floral ones, though. I think they'd look great paired with an orange skirt. Now, if only my size were available. Gah!
Anyway, if you purchase anything that you're particularly stoked about, let me know! I wanna see! :D Same goes for if you end up winning a gift certificate. Let me know, so I can be jealous of you! Haha. <3

Have fun shopping and have a great weekend!

Simple Syrup

This outfit borders on one of those outfits that I would opt to leave off my blog, just because it's really simple. At its core, it's just a shirt and jeans. While some bloggers have the swagger to make such an outfit look spectacular, I find that it's not that easy for me. Hehe. I gleaned much from my Minimalist Style Challenge, however. So, I used what I had learned to turn a simple outfit into a smart casual one.

Picture

The plaid tassel scarf does a great deal of the work, here. It's fantastic! I've always wanted one of these reversible scarves in this particular color scheme, so I was stoked to get it from my sponsor, Oasap. It's only $17 and it's huuuuuge. I'm going to have to figure out some better ways to wrap it.
I'm not the best when it comes to scarf tying. >_< The material is perfect and it's well suited for winter. The colors make this simple outfit pop. Also, if you have a tendency to wear darker colors in the winter, a scarf like this would easily add some brightness and aesthetic appeal. I look forward to wearing it often!

Picture

I wanted to add another splash of color. I just couldn't help myself. Hehe. So, I brought my convertible yellow backpack. I actually needed it though, because my partner and I planned to grab coffee. So, I packed the bag with my laptop, a book and some other stuff.
Plus, I figured I might need something to stow away the sizable scarf. :D The splash of yellow is unexpected, as well, since it can be seen only from the back. It's those little style details that I have a tendency to emphasize and appreciate. ^_^

Picture

OK. Now, when the coat is removed, we end up with an eyeful of stripes. :D I thought it best to wear a patterned top to help elevate the shirt and jeans look. I really liked the swirl of patterns created by the black and white striped slub tunic and the reversible scarf.
The sunglasses classed things up, as well. They're my absolute favorite and I wear them quite often.
The contrast of color at the sides is what initially piqued my interest. I think it's a simple and chic twist on your average black sunglasses.

I know I've said this before, but the patterned long strap on the convertible backpack does me in, every time. It's so rad and I try to emphasize it whenever I can. As you can see, with the removal of the patterned scarf, I can still do some subtle clashing thanks to that long strap. :D For an extra dose of patterns, I wore some sheer fleur de lis patterned tights so they'd peak out from the jean cuffs.

Picture

The glossy black ankle booties are a new addition to my shoe collection. I mentioned awhile back that I won an UrbanOG Style Contest and earned a gift card. I used that gift card to buy a couple pairs of shoes. You can see the first pair I bought here. I'm loving this second pair that I picked up. If they look uncomfortable, that's because they are. Haha. The heel is a bit higher than I would normally wear, but I had been coveting this style of shoe forever. I had to buy it. I just wear gel inserts and they cut down on discomfort.
I envy those of you who wear high heels. Due to my height, it's like wearing stilts. Haha.

Finally, you guys know how boyish I like to be, so I couldn't pass up the suspenders and fedora combo. All in all, I think there are quite a few enjoyable tidbits in this shirt and jeans look. I tried to make it interesting and complex without being fussy. I like how it turned out. I hope you like it, too! ^_^
