Hello, there! This will be a short post since I'm wearing a completely remixed outfit. Huzzah! :D I'm excited that I got a chance to wear this teal romper again, because it's truly wonderful. The color is throwing me off a little bit, though. I want to avoid doing simple pairings, but the bright teal seems to limit the number of ways in which I can wear the romper. The first time I wore the romper, I played it safe by pairing it with blacks and browns, but I had added some subtle, patterned surprises too. :D
This time, I tried to challenge myself a bit more by wearing a vintage multi-color floral blazer and a bright red satchel. I think all of the colors worked well together, but I can never be sure since I'm not 100% comfortable with wearing bright colors. I got a lot of stares while wearing this outfit and I have no idea whether they were good (i.e., you look awesome!) or bad (i.e., those things do not go together!).
I have a tendency to second guess myself and, as you probably know by now, I can be rather self-deprecating. Hence, I don't know how objective I am being right now, but I will say that I find the mixture of teal and red aesthetically pleasing to the eye. So, I don't find this combination jarring or unsettling. I definitely want to push myself to experiment with other colors and patterns when I wear this romper, though. It's too awesome to wear just a few times and in only a couple of ways. ^_^
I really love these suede ankle booties, too. ^_^ I think I picked them up for less than $10 on final sale. My only quibble is that moisture of any kind will kill the fabric, so I have to avoid wearing them on days when I know it's going to rain. It rained almost the entire summer, by the way. Haha. >_< A couple months ago, I got a glossy pair of black ankle boots with a much higher heel, so I can have the same look in rainy weather. I can't wait to wear them and, of course, I'll show them on my blog when I do. ^_^
I ended up wearing this outfit to dinner with my partner. We rode our bikes a few blocks to a place that does Costa Rican cuisine. The food of Costa Rica is so close to Jamaican food that I always feel like I've gone home when I'm devouring sweet fried plantain alongside rice and peas. Just thinking about it makes me miss my parents and I haven't been able to visit them in years. =/ Anyway, my partner was nice enough to take these photos on the way. We just propped our bikes up against a tree. ^_^
It wasn't the best date night, to be honest. The place wasn't very busy. There were three groups sitting at tables outside and it was fairly empty inside. We opted for the outdoor seating, but of course this meant everyone out there was staring at me. Haha. >_< That's to be expected, I guess. The problem was that it took over an hour for us to receive our appetizers! Admittedly, we should have left.
Instead, we just decided to stick it out. When our (cold) dinners arrived, the place we wanted to go to afterwards had closed. I remember feeling so frustrated after about 30 minutes and we hadn't received glasses of water. At some point, I had looked up from my menu to find my partner staring at me with this look. It's hard to describe, but I said something like, "You can't help staring too, huh?" To which he replied, "You're just so beautiful." I don't know why that caught me off guard. Haha. I do know that, as we literally watched the sky darken with grumbling bellies, I couldn't have been happier. <3
