This buckled satchel with scalloped trim was my first purchase from Sammydress. I got it for $10.80 and it's perfect. It is exactly what I was looking for in terms of color, versatility, size and style. It is very well constructed and I didn't find any blemishes upon inspection. The zippers and snaps work just fine.
This is the white version (there are lots of other colors from which to choose), though I find it to be more of a cream or off-white in person. I'm totally fine with the overall color, though. It is stylized at the front and back. The front has a two-snap closure as well as a zipper up top. The envelope shaped flap in the back has a single snap closure which covers a well hidden, but handy rectangular pocket. ^_^
This plaid shirt dress was my second purchase and I got it for $11.35. It's so fun and I just love the mix of colors, the lace hem and the cute deer print. I knew that it would be seasonal attire due to the deer patterns, but with some expert layering, the lace hem and plaid cuffs/collar will allow me to wear the dress year round. It's a wonderful investment and I look forward to styling it in a multitude of ways.
The fabric isn't thin or flimsy. It's sturdy cotton. I found the colors to be vibrant and there weren't any loose threads on the dress when I received it. It's a one-size item, but on my 5'9" frame it is long enough to cover my behind and I didn't find the sleeves to be short (and I have long arms, show me some monkey bars and I will dominate that sh*t, bro! hehe). So, if you're shorter than me, this will be more like a dress for you. In my case, it's a perfectly sized tunic. Oh and the buttons are fully functional and they are actually sewn into the fabric. They are not glued. I'm very happy with the quality.
Customer Service & Processing Time
I found Sammydress customer service to be good. I had inquired about why it took a week for them to process my order and I received a prompt reply that the items were on backorder and would be shipped ASAP. They appeared to be in-stock when I purchased them, but I exercised some patience and after nine additional days, I received a shipping notification. So the total processing time was about two weeks. This is a long time, so be aware that you may have to wait a bit for your stuff to be mailed.
Shipping & Tracking
It took about another two weeks for my items to be delivered, but I did receive a working tracking number with my shipment. My cart total was $19.93 (I used a 10% off coupon) and I had to pay for shipping which was about $14.00. The shipping is based on weight, so be sure to check the weights listed in each product description. I had to play around with this a bit so I wouldn't go over my budget. I also paid a nominal $2.00 to get a tracking number. So the total cost for both items was about $35.00.
Overall Impressions
I think I can understand why people left comments on the Sammydress Facebook page complaining about shipping delays. It certainly took longer than I had expected, but I think that with the volume of orders this wholesaler receives, it's not unreasonable for there to be an extended wait period. Businesses that buy bulk from Sammydress are probably put at the top of the queue. Also, it will take time for your stuff to make its away across the world to get to you, unless you've paid to expedite it.
I really believe patience is a virtue in this case. I'm impressed with the quality of what I had received. I'm not a fan of having to pay for shipping, but the cost of the items are so low that I think I still end up saving money in the end. I think similar items at other retailers would have cost me at least twice as much. Sammydress accepts PayPal, too! So, if anything goes wrong, you'll be protected as a buyer.
You'll remember that I had my fair share of reservations about Sammydress, but based on my experiences thus far, I'd say the company is well worth a try.
