...probably because I scared the living daylights out of them. o_O O_o Haha. Ahh, yes. It's that time, again. This steam punk vest needed to make another appearance before the end of the year; and what better way to wear it than with (vegan) leather, wedges, studs and plaid? Gotta represent!
This kick ass high waisted leather skater skirt is from my sponsor, Choies! It retails for about $47, though it is currently on sale. So, if you love it, get it! I've wanted a skirt like this forever, but I could never do the super short skater skirt style. My hips are too big. I'd look so ridiculous. >_< Haha.
This high waist style is perfect for my long frame, as the skirt hits me just below the knee. I got a Size Medium and it fits my 28 inch waist just fine, though it is just a smidge loose. The waist is elastic and I didn't know the waist had stretch until I got it. I would have liked a Size Small for a snug fit. So, I recommend ordering your normal size. The skirt has a nice weight to it and appears to be well made.
Here's a better view of the skirt. It's so rad, you guys. If you recall my previous post concerning layering, you'll remember my annoyance at not having dark reflective fabrics. If you're going to do an all-black style, for example, you really need to mix textures. So, reflective fabrics help a lot! As you can see, this skirt has a beautiful sheen in daylight that will look fantastic if and when I decide to do a monochrome style. I'm looking forward to getting a lot of wear out of this skirt. Great investment!
Speaking of layering, I thought it might be best to do a little 360, so you can see what I've done here.
Basically, I started with a metal tip lapel blouse and I layered ModCloth's Won't Black Down Top over it in order to create some asymmetry. Another fantastic investment. <3 I love love love this top!
Then, I layered my thrifted steam punk vest over the ModCloth high-low top and garnished the outfit with a thrifted puff sleeve blazer. You'll notice that you get a different perspective depending on which side of me you look at. ;D You can't see the skirt at all from the back, but you can get an eyeful of plaid and a sliver of the skirt from the left side while the plaid top is subordinated to the skirt on the right side.
Also, you may remember the plaid top from this post over the summer. This is my third time wearing it, I believe. I simply folded the top a bit to control the length and then tied it around me for color contrast.
You might not have been able to see my tights, so here's a better photo. They're called the Outfit Enhancement Tights on ModCloth and I've worn them a bunch of times already. I have as of yet to get a run in them. Very good quality! The buckled wedge boots must be at least five years old. I hardly wear them, since I find myself preferring my lace up wedges. However, given the texture of the leather skirt, I felt that the smoothness and reflective qualities in the boots would make a better match. :D
