Happy Friday! I hope you enjoy this fantastic remix by Todd Edwards of St. Germain's, "Alabama Blues." It's the kind of tune you want to be listening to just before you head out for a night on the town. To learn more about Edwards and hear some additional tracks, check out my previous blog post about him! I have one more track up my sleeve and I'll post that later this evening, so check back!

This is a rad blast from the past from DJ Sy and DJ Unknown. It's from their debut 1994 EP, "Sudden Impact / Let The Bass Kick." A rare tune given that they have produced only a handful of breaks tracks. Simon Cranny (DJ Sy) teamed up with his friend, Chris Sargent (DJ Unknown), in the mid-90s to produce music under Cranny's record label, Quosh. They produced some breaks tracks along with happy hard core starting around 1994. It seems that from 1995 through 2012 the duo stuck with happy hardcore exclusively. I don't know what if anything they've produced between 2012 and now. I haven't been able to find an official webpage for either of them. I'm really digging this old school breaks track, though and I hope you like it, too! I've been saving the best for last, so stay tuned! I wish I could figure out where this track is from. It might have been something produced for a compilation. I'm not sure. Anyway, I think you'll dig this classic 2-step tune. Check it! Based in the UK, Sunship got started early in the 90s. The group released their first breaks/acid jazz EP in 1992 followed by their debut self-titled drum and bass/breaks album in 1997. They released only one other album, "Is This Real," in 1998, but continued to steadily produce singles and EPs through 2012. Nowadays, the group is busy doing remixes and playing shows, though they do release new tracks every now and again on their SoundCloud page. Check their Facebook page for tour dates! |
