This is one of my all-time favorites from the late, great Jun Seba of Nujabes. You can find this tune on the Samurai Champloo Soundtrack (2004). Pretty much all fans of hip hop know Nujabes, but on the off chance you never heard of him check out my previous blog posts for a short bio and additional tracks!

Keeping things cool, calm and collected with Massinfluence of Atlanta, Georgia. You'll find the track below on the group's 2001 EP, "The Science / A Yo! Atlanta Ya On." It's worth a listen. Check it out! Mass Influence released their debut album, "Live From Mitchell Street" in 1998. They're latest album is "The Underground Science" (1999), though according to an article I read from April 2013, there is a new album in the works. So, be on the look out for that! Overall, the group has a modest discography with just a handful of EPs. I'm diggin' the preview track for the new album, though. I shared it below! It doesn't get much better than this, folks! This is Track 3 from Strange Fruit Project's debut album, "From Divine" (2002). If this is your first time hearing about these guys, then you're in for a treat! This underground hip hop group from Waco, Texas (of all places!) consists of Anthony Ligawa, Kevin Gaither, Larry Griffin. They used Billie Holiday's civil rights song, "Strange Fruit" as the inspiration for their group name. Since their debut in 2002, the group released an additional five albums and a handful of singles and EPs. It seems like things dropped off after 2011, though. Their latest album is called "A Dreamer's Journey" and it appears that you can only find it/buy it on Bandcamp. Here's Track 2: I'd love to hear more from these guys. I hope they're still making music together! Enjoy these tracks and don't go too far. It'll be the best in hip hop all week, so be sure to come on back! |
