I know this isn't breaks/2-step, but I'm still throwing it into this week's mix tape. It's dark and cerebral, but it's also perfect. Hehe. This track is Manuel Napuri's 2002 single. PQM or "Prince Quick Mix" has been active in the electronic music scene for over a decade. Napuri released his first single in 1988 and a slew of singles and EPs followed through the late 2000s. Check his website for his latest releases!

I really dug deep for this one. 2-step lovers and connoisseurs of esoteric music in general will dig this nostalgic beat! This track is from Grant Nelson and Simon Firmin's "Test Prep" EP (1995). As far as I know, these guys haven't put out anything new since 1999, so enjoy this classic blast from the past! Boom! Love this! This track has been in regular rotation on my iPod of a long, long time. This is "Audio Damage" from Future Funk Squad's 2006 album of the same name. Listen to this! Amazingly, Future Funk Squad isn't a group, it's an individual: Glen Nicholls of London. Yep. He does it all. Though, in the early days, Future Funk Squad had about half a dozen members (see above). Since 2004, Nicholls' has produced five albums and more than two dozen singles and EPs. In 2008, Nicholls started producing music under his own label "en:Vision Recordings." His latest release under the en:Vision label is the "Wrath" single of February 2011. It's intense! So good! |
